For these reasons, Statista and Newsweek are proud to provide the list of America's Best Cancer Hospitals 2023. This ranking awards leading hospitals providing cancer care in the United States. Results were compiled, and awards were presented based on three data sources—a nationwide online survey, hospital quality metrics and patient experience.
Congratulations to the many health care professionals who devoted themselves to making these hospitals the best.

The list is based on three data sources:.
Methodology:
The list is based on three data sources:
1. Nationwide online survey
From April to May 2023 over 2,000 hospital managers and health care professionals with knowledge about oncology were asked to recommend leading cancer hospitals in the U.S.
Recommendations for their own employer/ hospital were not allowed.
Participants were asked to rate the recommended cancer hospitals on a scale of 1-10 in the areas of: overall nurse staffing, technical equipment, patient education & counselling, and supportive & palliative care. Additionally, participants could name the following notable treatments which the hospital offer: Prostate cancer, Lung cancer, Cervical cancer, Breast cancer, Colon & Rectal cancer, and Leukemia.
These assessments and the recommendations were used to determine the reputation score, which has a weight of 50% of the overall score.
2. Results from patient surveys
Publicly available data from hospital surveys of patient experience during their hospitalizations. Survey topics included: cleanliness of the hospital, communication of the nurses/doctors, care transition, communication about medicines, discharge information, quietness, and staff responsiveness.
Those data were used to determine the patient experience score, which has a 15% weight of the overall score.
3. Hospital quality metrics
These are publicly available data from a variety of sources on indicators relevant to cancer care. Data on infection prevention, timely and effective care, cancer outcomes, breast cancer screening, and patient satisfaction as well as vaccination rates of staff for Influenza and COVID-19 was available from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Hospitals which met the minimum threshold of 75% of COVID-19 vaccination rate of staff reported, were eligible for the ranking. From The Joint Commission, an independent, nonprofit hospital accreditation organization, data were available for hospital accreditations and the advanced certification in palliative care. Finally, accreditation from the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) was taken into consideration.
These data were used to determine the quality metrics score, which has a weight of 35% of the overall score.
Disclaimer: The rankings are comprised exclusively of hospitals that are eligible regarding the scope described in this document. The ranking is the result of an elaborate process which, due to the interval of data-collection and analysis, is a reflection of the last 12 months.
